President’s Report

Mark Barfoot

Here in Canada we are definitely into winter now: four inches of snow greeting me this morning and 15 car accidents on Friday to remind me that the roads were icy. With winter now here, it means that the AMUG Conference is getting closer, and I wish I was already in warm, sunny Jacksonville!

It has been a busy few weeks for the AMUG board. We’ve been reaching out to our sponsors and exhibitors, and we’ve been finalizing our new booth selection software. See the vice president’s report for details on the selection plan.

Many of your board members will be at EuroMold next week. They will be touching base with our sponsors and exhibitors as well as striving to raise awareness of our conference with potential attendees. If you will be at EuroMold, make sure you stop by our booth to say “hello.” We will be located within the SLM Solutions booth in Hall 11, Stand D86.

As I noted last month, we have been actively seeking speakers, and our track leaders are doing a great job of securing presentations for the many tracks we will have at this year’s conference. I’ve read through the abstracts that have been submitted, and I am already excited about attending the sessions. With that insight, I know that we will have a great program that will give you a lot of great information.

I also want you to stay tuned for some future changes in how you’ll be able to view the presentation abstracts and plan your time at AMUG. I think you will really like what we are doing to improve on what is already a great event!

For those speakers that have been accepted, please send your speaker form to secretary@am-ug.com so that it can be compiled and entered into our presentation tracking system.

With just over five months left to go, I know the time will fly by, and I’ll soon be greeting you on the opening day. But I can’t do that if you don’t register. If you haven’t already done so, make sure you register soon to ensure that you have a spot at what will be a record-breaking-attendance conference and to confirm that you will have a room in what is likely to be a sold-out hotel. (You can register using the “register today” button on our website or the link in the newsletter located in the right-hand column.)

As always, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to drop me a line at president@am-ug.com.

Best regards,

Mark Barfoot

Vice President’s Report

Steve Deak Vice President

Vice President

With five months to go until the 2015 AMUGexpo in Jacksonville, 40% of the vendor spaces are already reserved! This is a strong indication of a large turnout for the two-day vendor fair.

There are several things to note:

For those who have registered for the AMUGexpo (Thanks!), booth selection will start soon, and it will be in the order your transaction was received. Look for an email from the AMUG Secretary, Kim Killoran, providing instructions for making your selection. You’ll like the “cool” on-line booth selection tool that will let you see the entire room layout; select your booth space; and upload your web link, logo, business brochure and more. This allows conference attendees to find you and plan their itineraries.

If you have not made your booth reservation, there is still time, but you’ll need to act soon. The Jacksonville venue is limited to 60 booths, so visit www.am-ug.com today and click the yellow “register today” button. Don’t get shut out of AMUGexpo 2015 because when we are sold out, we’re sold out!

Regards,

Steve Deak

The statistics show that 79% the people registered for the 2015 AMUG Conference so far are first-timers to AMUG! Given that, it’s not surprising that 40% of the total attendees that have registered have been in the AM industry less than five years. The word is getting out! If you are a user, this is THE conference to come to for greater awareness and education on all additive manufacturing technologies.

Whether you’re looking to attend, exhibit or sponsor, register today. Use up leftover 2014 budget money and register before the year is out. Or if you need to wait until 2015, there is a “Save & Return Later” option that lets you register now and pay later.

Remember to register early. The attendee price increases by $100 on March 15.
